Trail Construction Volunteer/Staff Training & Project Supervision

volunteer trail constructionOur experience in training and supervising volunteers and/or staff is extensive. Arrowhead Trails has developed a variety of sustainable trail building and trail maintenance programs that are managed by volunteers and or park staff.

Programs like the Boulder Regional Conservation Crewleader Program (BRCC), developed in 1993, have trained hundreds of volunteers to assist agencies in their trail management needs.

In past years on National Trails Day Projects (the first Saturday of every June), Arrowhead Trails staff have trained and supervised over 500 volunteers for over 2500 hours of new trail construction. During these projects almost four miles of new trail was constructed and no injuries occurred, except blisters and sore muscles. To get more information on National Trails Day contact American Trails at 520-632-1140 or visit their web site at AmericanTrails.org.

We have also supervised numerous Pay Dirt Work Days. These volunteers are mountain bike racers who receive points for their race standings in exchange for providing trail maintenance/construction labor.
